Notre-Dame Cathedral – Fire (2019)
In April 2019, a massive fire broke out at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, causing catastrophic damage. The blaze destroyed the spire, parts of the roof, and sections of the interior, including centuries old wooden structures and invaluable artworks. Firefighters managed to save many key elements, but the incident required an extensive restoration project. The cause of the fire was later linked to an electrical short circuit, but the destruction highlights the vulnerability of irreplaceable cultural heritage to sudden disasters.
